Make Modern Applications at Computer Aided Design Schools
by Robyn Tellefsen
It's time to show mom that all those art classes weren't a waste of time -- they were excellent preparation for success at

Computer Aided Design Schools

  and beyond.

Merging Art and Technology
Computer aided design, the use of computer-based tools that assist engineers, architects, and other professionals in their design work, is a dynamic, up-and-coming field. You'll find computer aided design (CAD) used in the design and development of various products, in the design of tools and machinery, and in the drafting and design of buildings. CAD is also used throughout the Engineering process, from conceptual design and layout, through detailed engineering and analysis of components, to definition of manufacturing methods.

Names to Know
There are plenty of software products available for your computer aided design training. Some packages to consider: AutoCAD, a Windows-based suite of CAD software products for 2- and 3D design and drafting; Pro/ENGINEER, a mechanical engineering and design CAD tool capable of creating complex 3D models, assemblies, and 2D measured drawings; and Inventor, a 3D parametric solid modelling package that runs on a PC but requires powerful processors, video cards, and extensive RAM to run more complex models.

Oh, the Places You'll Go!
When you start working with CAD, the sky is the limit. Computer aided design training will assist you in wireframe geometry creation, 3D parametric feature based modelling, solid modelling, freeform surface modelling, automated design of assemblies, and much more.

The many benefits of computer aided design include the reuse of design components, ease of design modification for multiple versions, automatic generation of standard components of the design, validation of designs against specifications and design rules, and simulation of designs without building a physical prototype, to name just a few. Plus, computer aided design schools will help you get your data exactly where it needs to go. CAD exporting functionalities include automatic output of engineering documentation, import/export routines with other software packages, output of design data directly to manufacturing facilities, and output directly to a rapid manufacture machine for industrial prototypes.

If you're an artist who digs techie tools too, computer aided design schools can point the way to a perfect career pursuit.
